Between June and August 2026, BRAC Rwanda Microfinance Company (BRMCP) trained more than 300 group presidents from across its 34 branches — not just as group leaders, but as potential ambassadors for the institution in their communities. The training opened a rare, direct conversation between clients and staff, and closed with client leaders making commitments of their own.

Since 2023, BRAC Rwanda Microfinance Company, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation’s Accelerating Impact for Young Women (AIM) programme, has used Financial, Digital and Life Skills Training (FLT) to help women build practical skills in managing money, businesses, digital services and everyday decisions. In 2026, the programme reached 14,099 clients across 755 groups, with training delivered in their communities rather than classrooms. Tamari, a client from Gisagara, captures the impact: “Before, I was doing business. Now, I plan my business.” Her story shows how FLT can turn financial knowledge into better saving, planning and business practices—and inspire others to join, learn and grow.

After dropping out of school due to an unplanned pregnancy, Olive Dushimiyimana from Huye District felt her dreams slipping away. But in 2024, everything changed when she joined the BRAC AIM Club. With training, a business plan, and a cash grant, Olive launched her TSP (textured soy protein) business. By 2025, she joined BRAC’s microfinance program, took a loan to expand, and tripled her sales. Now, Olive is financially independent, supports her child, and contributes to her household with renewed confidence and purpose.
